The purpose of The Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries is to recognise and stimulate originality and excellence in museums and galleries in the UK, and increase public appreciation and enjoyment of all they have to offer.
A single award of £100,000 is presented to a museum or gallery whose entry, in the opinion of the judges, best meets the Prize criteria through a project completed or mainly undertaken in the previous calendar year.

The Art Fund
The Art Fund helps museums and galleries across the UK to buy, show and share great art so that it can be experienced and enjoyed by everyone.

An independent charity, the Art Fund raises funds from 85,000 passionate art lovers primarily through sales to the National Art Pass – the only discount card with offers and concessionary rates to major exhibitions, museums, galleries and historic houses across the UK.

In the last five years the Art Fund has spent £24 million on helping over 700 museums and galleries to buy great art – historic and contemporary. The Art Fund also helps museums to show and share great art by supporting exhibitions such as the ARTIST ROOMS and sponsorship of the Art Fund Prize.
